Donate 1% for the Planet: 100% common sense

Since 2020, Guidap has been part of the 1% for the Planet movement. The concept is very simple: Guidap, like thousands of other committed companies that have joined the scheme, donates at least 1% of annual sales to environmental associations.

We're not alone in this initiative: the movement brings together 1,200 companies in France, and over 5,000 worldwide!

We want as many professionals as possible to be part of this environmental adventure, which is why we've created this little guide for you.

Why join 1% for the Planet?

  • Do your best to preserve the planet.

Let's not forget that in the world of leisure and tourism, nature is our playground. So, to be able to perform and share your passion for longer and in better conditions, let's do what we can to help the planet get better. And it's up to each and every one of us!

  • Surround yourself well.

Because 1% for the Planet is also a whole community of entrepreneurs who share the same values. It's an opportunity to exchange and share best practices in committed and responsible business.

  • Shine even brighter.

Being a member of 1% for the Planet is also an opportunity to strengthen your brand image in the eyes of your customers, employees and partners.

  • Save money.

No, it's not a mistake! By donating a small portion of your sales, you can benefit from tax advantages. Another opportunity to reinvest in your business, and why not make it more sustainable!

  • Karma booster.

A good way to live better with yourself, knowing that you're doing your best to preserve the planet.

Things to consider before taking the plunge

Before taking the plunge, it's important to weigh up the pros and cons. Here are a few things to consider:

  • It's a commitment

Once you've committed yourself, you've taken on the responsibility of following the rules, which means not only donating, but also providing the necessary documents. What's more, as it's 1% of your sales, not profit, even if last year wasn't very successful, it doesn't release you from your commitment.

  • We need a clear and transparent tax system.

Of course, this is a basic legal obligation, but if your business has a complex tax system for whatever reason, it's best to work out and clarify this point with a representative of the movement from the outset.

  • It's not really a percentage.

In fact, there is a scale that specifies the minimum amount of your donation according to the range of sales.

How do you get started?

Here are the main engagement steps:

  • Select format.

You can commit to all your sales, or decide to commit only to certain brands, product ranges or services.

  • Fill in the membership form.

This is a relatively short form, which includes information about the person initiating the process and his or her company. The elements to be prepared for this step are the amount of sales and the company's fiscal year-end.

  • Sign the commitment letter.

Once you've signed, you'll make your first donation, which you'll have to renew every year for as long as you're part of the movement.

  • Display the 1% for the Planet logo.

That's right! Now you can tell your customers, suppliers and even friends that your company is committed to the environmental cause as part of the movement!

  • Distribute the famous 1%.

Good to know: at least 50% of your contribution must be given to associations in the form of a financial donation, while the remainder can take the form of a donation of products or services, or the sponsorship of skills. The choice is yours!

  • Pass association checks.

To make sure you're living up to your commitment, the 1% for the Planet association carries out an audit at the end of your tax year. You'll need to provide documents proving your annual sales and donations.

"Being a member of 1% for the Planet enables us to promote our values internally, and to give meaning to what we do on a daily basis. It also makes it easier for us to attract talent who are concerned by the subject of ecology, as it shows that we are concretely putting our values into action by directly touching the company's money".
